Metal Artists Mad at Pop Stars Wearing their Shirts

Image
Some of the old school rockstars and metal artists have been upset about pop stars of the 2000's wearing some of their t-shirts. It started with a tweet from Dee Snider, the frontman of the band Twisted Sister, when he called the new trend of non-metal artists wearing metal t-shirts as "sickening" and later says that the skulls and metal horn imagery belongs to the metal bands exclusively. Among the pop stars that are wearing these metal t-shirts are Justin Bieber, Kanye West, and Rihanna to name a few. Kanye West in particular has used these metal-esque images in his clothing lines, borrowing from bands such as Iron Maiden in order to make his images on t-shirts and other clothing. Beyonce has been using the logo of the band Slayer on t-shirts but instead saying "Slayonce" on her tour shirts. Slayer guitarist Gary Holt accused Beyonce of appropriation for using the log and styling of the bands logo without permission. However, not all metal artists are upse...

R.I.P. Malcom Young

Image
2017 has not been the best year, I think we can all agree on that. It seems like every day I wake up to some bad news, or something happens every week where I just shake my head and wonder wtf is going on in life. We lost another rock legend this year, Malcom Young of AC/DC. AC/DC is one of the greatest rock bands to ever grace this earth, with heavenly jams such as "Back in Black", "Highway to Hell", "Thunderstruck", "Hell's Bells".... the list goes on. Malcom, along with his brother Angus, both founded the band AC/DC in 1973 and the rest was history. Malcom Young had been struggling with a long battle with dementia which ultimately lead to his death. Unfortunately, too, his older brother George Young passed away a few weeks before Malcom. It is probably a very tough time for Angus right now. Malcom's legacy will live on as one of the best rhythm guitarists that ever lived in a legendary band thats music will never die. Below is a trib...

"Before He Tweets" Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley poke fun at Trump

Image
At the Country Music Awards this year, two iconic country stars, Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley, played a short song during their opener for the award show that poked fun at the current president of the United States, Donald Trump. The two stars never named Trump by name or stated that the song was written about him, but the lyrics insinuate that it is indeed about him. They poke fun at a lot of the controversies that he has had as president, such as tensions with North Korea and some of his tweets, such as the infamous "covfefe" tweet. The song was titled "Before he Tweets." I think its pretty funny how it seems like everywhere the president is the butt of some sort of joke, even at a country music award show where it would seems like one would think that most of the people that were attendance at that award show are supporters of him. Take a look at the video of the performance below:

WITHOUT WARNING - 21 Savage & Offset surprise album

Image
Issa 'nother surprise album this year!! Offset from Migos and 21 Savage have joined forces with producer Metro Boomin for an unannounced album for the people. God Bless. The album was released on Halloween and definitely has a spooky kind of vibe to it, which I love. This album is a musical expression of Halloween horror films.  21 Savage and Metro Boomin have proved that they work well together to create a piece of music, an example being the album Savage Mode released in 2016. Now on Without Warning, rapper Offset is along for the ride to create a gritty, dark, and beautiful album. 21 Savage and Offset work well with each other here - even though that they sort of have different styles of rapping. 21 Savage is known to have a "numb sounding" almost inhuman voice and flow. Offset is adrenaline fueled and fun to listen to. They complement each other well on this project. Overall to me it is tough to determine who outshines the other - both do an excellent job on the a...

XXXTentacion Not Making Music Anymore?

Image
This week, rapper XXXTentacion announced via Instagram that he won't be releasing any new music or recording any more due to the amount of hate that he has been getting recently.   X appeared upset by his ups and down in the music industry and said that due to the "hate," he's announcing his retirement. "Sad to announce I will not be making or releasing any music," he wrote. "I am tired of being mentally abused for trying to help people, I am tired of the hate, I'm done."  His post is shown below: The news of his retirement is pretty strange, considering the fact that he hasn't been in the business of music for a very long time. I guess the amount of hate that he is getting from fans and other rappers is overwhelming to him. He signed a $6 million dollar deal with Capitol records, but has said that he will be axing that deal. X will also be going to trial soon for domestic abuse.

SUPER SLIMEY - Future + Young Thug Collab Album

Image
Future and Young Thug have made themselves big name rappers in the hip hop/rap scene. They have both proven themselves and to others that they are here to stay, and don't plan on leaving any time soon. Both rappers have their own unique style of trap music, which originated in the south in Atlanta, Georgia. Future and Young Thug dropped a surprise album this weekend titled "SUPER SLIMEY" which features just the two artists with one feature, Offset from Migos. The idea behind the album is that the two rappers try to out rap each other on their own songs on the album and also rap together on songs. The album is honestly nothing special - it is a pretty stereotypical trap sounding album featuring the two artists. It has a very "Future Vibe" in the sense that it just sounds a lot like Future's songs and albums that he drops. The beats and production used are pretty standard trap sounding. An interesting thing about the album is the cover art, shown below. It...

Mr. Davis

Image
Gucci Mane dropped a new album this weekend, named "Mr. Davis." Gucci is known for dropping albums and mixtapes all the time - in 2016 he dropped 3 albums, "Everybody Lookin", "Woptober", and "The Return of East Atlanta Santa", and has already dropped 2 albums this year. Along with quantity, Gucci continues to deliver quality music as well, and this album is nothing short of quality. The album is a mixture of songs with big name features and solo songs. "I Get the Bag" is a smash hit from the album featuring Migos, who have been discussed on this blog page on their stardom. This song really helped boost the anticipation of the album with a killer hook by Quavo, clean first verse from Takeoff, and a finishing verse from Gucci himself. This song is the biggest debut for Gucci, and is the highest the single has reached on the Hot 100 chart ever. Along with this song, features on the album include Big Sean, Nicki Minaj, Slim Jxmmi from Ra...
